I found these Royal Sea Stars while walking on the beach in Pine Knoll Shores, NC. I could not believe my eyes when I saw these purple starfish washing up on the shore in NC! They are called Royal Starfish for their rich purple color and the orange was continuous around the perimeter. There is no Photoshop on this photo, they were really that purple! A random fact about these creatures, small clams are their favorite food and they can over eat and cause harm to themselves.
